Created in partnership with the Brazilian Support Service for Micro & Small Businesses, Eldorado Brazil’s ISAP program is a social initiative designed to encourage organic agriculture by small local producers, promoting food security and economic development. We have delivered 45 ISAP kits—containing the equipment and supplies needed to cultivate vegetable gardens—to the communities of Três Lagoas and Selvíria, as well as holding training workshops with local farmers and providing limestone and organic fertilizers. To further stimulate agroecological production, we buy the vegetables grown in the project for use at the employee cafeteria at our Três Lagoas mill. We purchase an average of around 20 tons of organic food per year from small farmers under the ISAP program, who also sell their products at fairs and to schools and other institutions.
An environmental education initiative for local school students, communities, and employees, more than 3,000 people take part in the ESP program’s sustainability activities every year, following an ecological curriculum that includes global themes such as climate change, responsible use of natural resources, and biodiversity conservation. The program reinforces a sense of responsibility for nature and encourages a desire to protect the environment and improve life quality. Its activities take place in municipalities within Eldorado Brazil’s area of influence in Mato Grosso do Sul, engaging elementary and high school students, surrounding communities, and our employees and their families.
The FoE project is a volunteering initiative created by Eldorado Brazil’s sustainability team. It brings together employees who volunteer their time, work, and skills to help social and community causes, with support from the company. Friends of Eldorado holds fundraising activities, collects donations, and engages in campaigns and social actions.
